How to Install a Window – Stucco Homes
If you live in the western United states this video will show you how to install a replacement window in stucco homes. Each window varies, so be sure to follow the manufacturer’s instructions for your specific window.
First, remove the window sashes. Cut pieces of wood filler for the bottom and sides. Apply sealer on the joints, but avoid sealing the weep holes. Remove the sash of the new window by sliding the window open and lifting the sash up and out. Do a test fit before installing the new window.
Drew screw holes to secure the window. Remove the track to drill on the bottom. Remove the window after you drill the screw holes. Apply a bead of sealant on the face of the existing frame. Set the window in place. Cut shims and place them until the window is square. Drive screws through the top holes on either side. Make sure the window is plumb and square before you drive screws through the other holes. Replace the track.
Reinstall the sash. If the window doesn’t slide properly, check the shims. After it slides properly, apply the screw covers and cut off the shims. Apply a bead of sealant on the exterior side of the flange. Fill between the window and frame with a sealing foam. Let the foam cure and check that the window opens and closes properly. Install the interior trim and clean your windows.
